Purpose-built model (専用モデル）

The OEM introduced a purpose-built hybrid model, not a hybrid derivative of a normal gasoline model.

そのメーカーは通常のガソリンモデルから作った派生車ではなく、ハイブリッド専用のモデルを導入した。

※OEM = 自動車メーカーのこと

※purpose-built hybrid model = ハイブリッド専用車  (a hybrid-only model, a hybrid-dedicated model, という言い方もできる。hybrid をEVにすればEV専用車になる）

※derivative model = 派生車

Rapid-charging (急速充電）

I wish to have a rapid-charging battery for my EV that can be fully charged in several minutes.

僕の電気自動車に数分でフル充電できる急速充電バッテリーが欲しいものだ。

※rapid-charging = 急速充電

※EV (electric vehicle) = 電気自動車

※be fully charged = フル充電される

IoT (モノのインターネット化）

The IoT in automotive indusry is expanding as OEMs introduce introduce connectivity features in their cars.

メーカーが車へコネクティビティ機能を導入するのに伴って自動車業界でのモノの インターネット化が広がっている。

※IoT = モノのインターネット化 (Internet of Things)

※OEM = メーカー（ここでは自動車メーカー）

Driver drowsiness detection is one of the features of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

居眠り運転検知は先進運転支援システムの機能の一つだ。

※driver drowsiness detection = 居眠り検知（drawsiness はドロウズィネス （下線太字にアクセント）と発音

WLTP (排ガス・燃費の国際的試験基準）

MLIT and METI jointly compiled a policy to use WLTP to support the vehicle fuel efficiency regulations.

国土交通省と経済産業省が協力して、自動車の燃費規制において国際的算定基準のWLTPを用いる方針を策定した。

※MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,Tansport, and Tourism) = 国土交通省

※METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry) = 経済産業省

※WLTP (Wolrdwide harmonized light vehicles test procedure) = 排ガスと燃費の算定試験における国際協調基準のこと

 

Mild Hybrid (MHEV)

A mild hybrid vehicle has an electric motor which role is to assist the ICE and does not propel the vehicle on its own.

マイルドハイブリッド車の電気モーターは内燃エンジンを補助するためのもので、それだけで車を走らせるものではない。

※mild hybrid (MHEV) = マイルドハイブリッド

※ICE (internal combustion engine) = 内燃エンジン

Vehicle platooning （隊列走行）

Vehicle platooning can be possible if autonomous cars communicate among each other and travel together at same speed.

自動運転車同士が通信し合って同じ速度で動けば、かるがも走行も可能だ。

※vehicle platooning = 隊列走行、かるがも走行 （プラトゥーニング と発音（下線太字にアクセント）

Defeat device (無効化装置）

The automaker used a software, so-called “defeat device” that makes the vehicle perform in an environmentally friendly manner in laboratory tests.

その自動車メーカーは、屋内実験による試験では車の環境性能が良くなる、「デフィートデバイス」とも呼ばれるソフトを使っていた。
