Hybridization (ハイブリッド化）

Automotive hybridization may look old-fashioned once low-cost EVs are introduced.

電気自動車が低コストで導入されると、ハイブリッド車作りは時代遅れに見えるかもしれない。

※hybridization = ハイブリッド化 （ハイブリディゼイションと発音 ー下線太字にアクセント）

※old-fashioned = 古臭い、時代遅れの

※low-cost EVs = 低コスト電気自動車

Rear AEB (後退時緊急ブレーキ）

Cars with rear AEB automatically apply brakes to prevent hitting something behind while backing.

後退時緊急自動ブレーキの付いた車はバックする際、後方に何かあると当たらないよう自動的にブレーキをかける。

※rear AEB (autonomous emergency brake) = 後退時緊急ブレーキ

※apply brakes = ブレーキをかける

※while backing = 後退中に

AHSS (高強度ハイテン材）

The steel company developed AHSS that has high formability for automobile.

その製鉄会社は自動車用に成形性の高い高強度ハイテン材を開発した。

※AHSS (Advanced high strength steel) = 高強度ハイテン材

UHSS (ultra high strength steel/ 超ハイテン）や HSS(high strength steel/ハイテン) もある。

※formability = 成形性

Hill descent control（下り坂自動車速制御）

By activating hill descent control system, the speed of the car gets adjusted automatically on a down slope.

ヒルディセントコントロールを作動すれば、車が下り坂での車速制御を自動で行ってくれる。

※activate = 作動する （アクティベイト（下線太字にアクセントで発音）

※hill descent control = ヒルディセントコントロール（HDC) , 下り坂自動車速制御

※on a down slope = 下り勾配で

 

Self-parking （自動駐車）

The new model has a self-parking system that can parallelly park itself at the curb.

その新型車には道路脇に自動運転で並列駐車ができるシステムが付いている。

※self-parking = 自動運転で駐車すること

※parallelly park = 並列駐車すること

※park at the curb = 歩道脇、道路脇

 

Incentive (販売奨励金）

ALG forecasts the incentives in overall industry to go up 20%.
ALGは自動車業界の奨励金が全般的に20％上昇すると予想している。
※ ALG = Automotive Leasing Guide のこと。米国で車種の適正残価を示すガイドライン。ここでの残価が良いと値引きを抑えることができる。
※ Incentive = 値引き等の原資になる奨励金のこと。車が売れなくなると奨励金が増える傾向を示す。（値引き拡大で売れるようにもっていくため）しかし将来の残価には悪影響となる。

Over the air (無線ネットワーク経由で）

Updating in-car software over the air may not be safe.

車載ソフトを無線ネットワーク経由でアップデートするのは安全でないかもしれない。

※over the air = 無線ネットワーク経由で。 略してOTA と言う。(OTA update、など）

Purpose-built model (専用モデル）

The OEM introduced a purpose-built hybrid model, not a hybrid derivative of a normal gasoline model.

そのメーカーは通常のガソリンモデルから作った派生車ではなく、ハイブリッド専用のモデルを導入した。

※OEM = 自動車メーカーのこと

※purpose-built hybrid model = ハイブリッド専用車  (a hybrid-only model, a hybrid-dedicated model, という言い方もできる。hybrid をEVにすればEV専用車になる）

※derivative model = 派生車
