LiDAR (ライダー）

Autonomous cars are equipped with LiDAR which detects objects and their distance by using lasers.

自動運転車にはレーザーを用いて物体とその距離を検知するライダーが搭載されている。

※LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) = ライダー（レーザー光を使ったレーダー）

Rear AEB (後退時緊急ブレーキ）

Cars with rear AEB automatically apply brakes to prevent hitting something behind while backing.

後退時緊急自動ブレーキの付いた車はバックする際、後方に何かあると当たらないよう自動的にブレーキをかける。

※rear AEB (autonomous emergency brake) = 後退時緊急ブレーキ

※apply brakes = ブレーキをかける

※while backing = 後退中に

Hill descent control（下り坂自動車速制御）

By activating hill descent control system, the speed of the car gets adjusted automatically on a down slope.

ヒルディセントコントロールを作動すれば、車が下り坂での車速制御を自動で行ってくれる。

※activate = 作動する （アクティベイト（下線太字にアクセントで発音）

※hill descent control = ヒルディセントコントロール（HDC) , 下り坂自動車速制御

※on a down slope = 下り勾配で

 

Self-parking （自動駐車）

The new model has a self-parking system that can parallelly park itself at the curb.

その新型車には道路脇に自動運転で並列駐車ができるシステムが付いている。

※self-parking = 自動運転で駐車すること

※parallelly park = 並列駐車すること

※park at the curb = 歩道脇、道路脇

 

Vehicle platooning （隊列走行）

Vehicle platooning can be possible if autonomous cars communicate among each other and travel together at same speed.

自動運転車同士が通信し合って同じ速度で動けば、かるがも走行も可能だ。

※vehicle platooning = 隊列走行、かるがも走行 （プラトゥーニング と発音（下線太字にアクセント）

※autonomous car = 自動運転車 （オウトオノモス と発音（下線太字にアクセント）

AEB (自動緊急ブレーキ）

Some OEMs offer AEB systems to improve safety of their vehicles.
自社の車の安全性を向上するために既に緊急自動ブレーキを提供しているメーカーがある。

※OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) ＝ 自動車メーカーのこと。
※AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) = 自動緊急ブレーキのこと。
